My Story!
Shakeem “Huggin' Money Keem” Jones is a New York City native. Born in Brooklyn. Currently residing in East Tennessee. Raised in a household with his mother, three brothers, and two sisters. Keem was the only one of six children with a different biological father. Growing up, Keem knew his step-father (which to date he considers to be his dad) was one of the most highly respected hustlers in the neighborhood. Whose ruthless nature was seen in the home as well. Sometimes, feeling like an outcast. An escape for Keem was his first love, music. In his early years he heard mostly house music, with a blend of Hip Hop and R&B/Soul. He loved to dance with his mom while she did her routine Saturday morning cleaning. He was driven by the up beat and tempo. He was also lead singer in his church choir and traveled the country singing.
Keem was inspired to create, write, produce and arrange music by icons like Prince, Eazy E, LL Cool J, and Method Man. Keem wrote his first song in the 5th grade. Consistently writing and performing for family and friends he was determined to pursue his talent. Keem’s passion to succeed pushed him to do something independent, and make his own rules.
Hard work paid off in the mid 2000’s when a friend took his mix-tape to Shurod Brown who happens to be Keem’s mentor and/or “brother from another mother” to date. Brown recognized how unique, commercial, and catchy his music was which intrigued him. When Brown met Keem he loved his humility, humbleness and hunger. A partnership formed immediately. After years of artist development and hardcore grinding with the likes of Brown, Ray DeJon, and Curtis aka “Fif". It was time to showcase Keem’s talent and in 2013 Keem founded his company, Huggin’ Money Inc.
Keem’s goal is to be the best. To create generational wealth. His motivation is to provide for his mother, two younger sisters, niece, and his now 14 yr old son Isaiah. Keem is currently releasing music. With his most recent single "Put It In The Air" reaching a peak position of #22 on the Hip-Hop/Rap iTunes charts. He's also been busy performing at arenas across the country alongside artists such as Nelly, Ashanti, T.I., Ludacris. So forth and so on. He's even making nightclub appearances internationally and taking the music scene by storm. Keem is destined to be our next big mogul!
